If you were arrested for a DUI, then the officer started an administrative process on the night you were arrested when he or she sent a form to the Washington State Department of Licensing. That form told the Department of Licensing that you were arrested for a DUI and also told them that the officer believed he or she had reasonable grounds upon which to base that arrest and what the results of your breath tests were, or if you refused to take the test.

If you do nothing to stop that automatic process, then the Department of Licensing will suspend or revoke your license. Guaranteed.

If you plead guilty to a DUI you will also lose your license. Guaranteed.

This state gets two bites at the apple, so to speak. One is the administrative process, through the Department of Licensing, and the other is the criminal process, through the Court. Both can result in your license being suspended or revoked.

You only have thirty days to request a hearing from the Department of Licensing in order to have any hope of cancelling the process that began when you were arrrested. No attorney can guarantee that they can save your driver’s license, but an experienced attorney knows how to defend you and find ways to save your license, if they exist. You deserve to have an opportunity to contest the license suspension, the law guarantees you that opportunity and a good lawyer will help you through it.
